High Acuity Intervention for Youth Impacted by Juvenile Justice and Foster Care
Youth with high-acuity needs are adolescents facing complex and severe emotional, behavioral, and sometimes physical health challenges that often involve multiple systems of care, including community mental health, the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, health plans, managing entities, and Community-Based Care agencies. These youth require intensive, specialized interventions that exceed the capacity of traditional service providers. Many experience suicidal ideation, self-harm, trauma, aggression, or significant instability that leads to disrupted placements and the need for highly restrictive or specialized environments.
At JBBH, we recognize that while some youth require specialized placement, what they most need is the restoration of genuine human connection often lost through significant trauma, disrupted families or absent caregivers. We believe every child deserves to know they are loved, valued, purposeful, and that their life matters.
Our team of trained coaches and mentors—drawing from specialized training and lived experience—focuses on rebuilding trust and connection with each youth. Through an individualized, relationship-centered approach, we help them address deep-rooted challenges that traditional treatment models often struggle to reach.
Working alongside state agencies, child protection case managers, providers, and caregivers, JBBH provides a family-like environment that supports treatment of behavioral health challenges and trauma, reduces high-risk behaviors, stabilizes less restrictive placements, and promotes lasting positive outcomes for youth with the most intensive needs.
